Jeffrey E. Everett, MD
Dr. Everett’s specialty at University Heart Surgeons is heart valve repair or replacement. Many procedures are performed using minimally invasive techniques that allow a quicker recovery. Dr. Everett is the regions most experienced robotically assisted cardiac surgeon.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at Mount Union College in Alliance, OH, and the Doctor of Medicine degree from The Ohio State University. He also received the Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa. Dr. Everett did his general surgery internship and residency at the University of Minnesota. While there, he spent three years doing basic science research in the field of cardiac and pulmonary transplantation. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Michigan.
After fellowship, Dr. Everett became an Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. There, he developed a Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and Robotics Program. He did the regions first robot heart surgery in 2002. Dr. Everett was appointed Director of the Adult Cardiac Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support Program. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005. He moved to Tennessee in July 2007 to join University Heart Surgeons.
Dr. Everett is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is a member of numerous professional societies and serves as an editor for manuscript review in several surgical journals.
